Sparring Rules for Muay Thai
- Student must have instructor permission to spar
- Instructor must be present during sparring
- Legal Techniques
- Any punch above the waist but not to the neck, back of head, back, or spine
- Any kick above the waist but not to the neck, back of head, back, or spine
- Any kick to legs but not directly to front of knee
- Light knees to body
- Clinch
- Illegal Techniques
- Elbows
- Hard knees to body
- Knee to head
- Any strike to neck
- Any strike to back of head or spine
- Any strike to groin area
- Throwing
- Anyone that loses temper while sparring will be asked to leave for day
- No sparring above 75% for any reason
- If you are significantly larger than your sparring partner then no contact above 50%
- You must listen to instructor at all times
- No sparring after the bell
- Break when instructor tells you too.
- All safety gear must be worn
- 16 oz gloves
- head gear
- mouth protection
- groin protection
- shin guards
- Do not attempt to cause injury to your sparring partner
- Be respectful to the instructor and your sparring partner
